After studying philosophy at UCLA, Erica went on a life long quest to further her own education to become the best rider and coach she could be. This led her to study in Germany at the Neindorff Reitinstitut under the tutelage of Melissa Simms. She also traveled some years later to the U.K. to study with Mary Wanless who has been her mentor in the understanding of rider biomechanics. Erica feels that we as riders have a responsibility to be the best partners we can be for our horses. Then the horse can rise to his true potential!
While practicing karate, Erica discovered a simmilarity between horseback riding stance and the correct posture on the horse. Standing with flexed knee and weight-bearing on the thigh, shoulders right over hips, toe a bit in and the heel a little away, in perfect balance and alignment, imagine being unmovable: "Winds blow, typhoons roar, worlds collide, yet you remain undisturbed". And that is how you should be in the saddle, transferring this calmness onto the horse. Once you find your unmovable frame, make sure you keep it, regardless of the horse under or any other elements around you. And that is the message encoded in these two shirts, wholly inspired by Erica's concept. Always keep your frame in mind!
